Thing#5

The blog I chose for my reflective post was What is Learning? I felt it was the most appropriate for my personal journey...my lifelong educational quest so to speak. I never want to stop learning..I never want to be "obsolete". I don't want to gather moss and be irrelevant. Two quotes from her post that especially moved me were "Teachers are the guardians of knowledge" and "Sapere Aude" or dare to know.

The author expounded on the fact that without knowledge there cannot be thinking, and without thinking there cannot be change. She said that learning is the process in which a person takes themselves farther away from ignorance.

Now the quest will be to light the fire under our students to get them excited about learning, and therefore thinking.

I just read "What is Learning?". I love the definition of learning, "take yourself farther away from ignorance". I love it, that is why I signed up for this class. It will allow me to learn about the new trends in technology, and pass it on to other teachers. Although, this takes a lot of time and commitment, learning something new is a blessing that can be utilized in many different ways. Especially getting our students excited about learning and creating an environment that makes learning fun.

Teaching our students to take themselves farther away from ignorance is the very important to me. Educating them to think on their own and not just taking someone's word about an issue is key. I believe that learning something new everyday keeps us alive.
